Quickstart
Get started with Range
Open the simulator, pick a scenario, and work a real identity attack as a live incident. Here is how to start on every tier, what each one includes, and how to run a session for your team.
Free Community Edition. No credit card.
Start in 60 seconds
- Open Range and enter a callsign (your name or handle).
- Pick a team and a mode: CTF (timed) or Learning (hints, no timer).
- Paste your license key, or leave it blank for the free Community Edition. Enterprise teams can use Organization SSO instead.
- Click Deploy, choose a scenario, and work the incident.
Your progress, score, and achievements save on your device automatically.
Free, and it stays free
The Community Edition is free for good: one hands-on scenario from every system (AD, Entra, M365, all three clouds, Okta, SaaS, and recovery), with a fresh pick every month, plus the full IR loop, scoring, achievements, and a completion certificate. No credit card, no waiting. Play at your own pace: your progress saves automatically, and anything you start stays yours even after the monthly set refreshes.
How it works
Work the full IR loop
Each scenario is a real attack played as an incident: Detection, Containment, Eradication, Forensics, Recovery, plus a CISO-level impact call. You read the timeline, make decisions, hit a branch point, and get scored with feedback on the right move.
CTF vs Learning
CTF is timed (90 seconds per question) and competitive, for drills and team competition. Learning turns on hints and removes the timer, for teaching and first exposure.
Run a team session
Pro and Enterprise: a facilitator opens Presenter mode and sets the level; players sync within seconds. Enterprise adds the Facilitator Teleprompter, a fully scripted way to run a tabletop.
Sign in with company SSO
Enterprise: choose Organization SSO, enter your work email, and sign in with Entra ID, Okta, or Google. Your tier and role come from your organization automatically.
